Call for Abstracts
You are invited to submit your abstracts for the 17th World Congress of Intensive and Critical Care. The event will take place on September 16-19, 2025 at the Vancouver Convention Centre. For more information, please read below.

The Canadian Critical Care Society, in partnership with the Canadian Association of Critical Care Nurses, and the Canadian Society of Respiratory Therapists, on behalf of the World Federation of Intensive and Critical Care, is excited to host 17th World Congress of Intensive and Critical Care from September 16 - 19, 2025 in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
With the theme of "Caring Intensively", we welcome our colleagues from around the globe and look forward to bringing our unique, diverse Canadian culture to all aspects of this exciting event.

Inspire participants to create learning and work environments that holistically support interprofessional teams in caring for our patients, their caregivers, and the health care team.
Increase awareness of the differences in how critical care is provided around the world and to foster an understanding of what is needed to provide global equity in the provision of critical care.
Support the exchange of knowledge between different professionals for a shared understanding of the current evidence-based care of the critically ill.

Abstracts can be submitted from now until Tuesday, March 11, 2025. There will be a rolling abstract submission deadline beginning October 11, 2024 and closing March 11, 2025. If you require a travel visa, we strongly recommend submitting your abstracts and applying for your visa as early as possible to avoid delays or refusals.

Abstracts should be submitted on the online abstract system.
Abstracts should include all pillars of health research, case reports discussing rare cases or interesting conditions in the field of intensive and critical care medicine. Systematic review and meta-analysis results can also be submitted.
Abstracts should meet universal ethical standards.
Submitted abstracts must describe unpublished work, which is not in press, nor has been submitted as an abstract or a manuscript. Abstracts in narrative review, opinion, view format will not be accepted.
Previously published abstracts or abstracts of work already published on March 1 2025 will not be accepted.
Abstracts should be uploaded to the system in English.
Keywords: Maximum 5 keywords should be entered complying with MeSH.
Abstracts should be maximum 300 words excluding the title and author information.
Font to be used is Size 11 Arial including the table or figure.
Abbreviations in the abstract body should be written clearly where they are first used.
Do not include figures, tables or references.
Accepted abstracts will be presented as oral or electronic poster presentations.

Relevant abstract category should be selected and the abstracts should consist of the following parts:
Title: It should be written in bold. First letters of the words should be in capital letters (except articles and prepositions) and the rest in lower case. Abbreviations should not be used in the title.
Authors: Names and primary institutions should be entered separately for all authors. For communication, corresponding authors should specify their e-mail and phone numbers. Academic titles should not be used in author names.
Abstract Body:
For research studies, systematic reviews and meta-analysis, population health studies it should be composed of the following sections:

Background/Objectives
Methods
Results
Conclusions
Case reports and case series should consist of:

Notification of acceptance will be sent by email to the submitting author beginning the week of January 6, 2025. Registration is now open. Please sign-up for our newsletter to stay up to date.

All abstracts will be peer- and blind-reviewed by the Abstract Evaluation Committee. The members of the Abstract Evaluation Committee will review the abstracts according to their content, language of writing and the innovation that they bring to the literature. The acceptance of an abstract will be made after the referee's evaluation. The Congress Organizing Committee reserves the right to make the final decision concerning the form of the presentation as poster or oral presentation and the decision will be sent to the corresponding author.
The authors are responsible for compliance with the ethical principles, English language and submission rules. Abstracts with serious language problems and abstracts not complying submission and ethical rules may be rejected. Errors will not be amended by the organizers and the Abstract Evaluation Committee.
An acceptance letter concerning the abstract evaluation result will be e-mailed to the author. At least one of the authors must register to the Congress by May 15, 2025 in order for the abstracts to be accepted. Accepted abstracts either as posters or oral presentations must be presented during the congress to be published.

Submission of an abstract implies that it has been approved by all listed authors. Submission of an abstract constitutes authors’ consent for publication (e.g. Congress website, program, etc…).
All accepted and presented abstracts will be offered the choice published online and selected ones will be printed in the “Journal of Critical Care”. Nursing abstracts may be published in the Canadian Journal of Critical Care Nursing.
